Wojciech Merk

Education and professional experience

Dr Wojciech Merk, MD, PhD is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.

He has over 10 years of professional experience, gained through his work at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, where he completed his specialist training in psychiatry.

In 2016, he obtained his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree. He worked academically as an assistant professor at the Department and Clinic of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Medical University of Silesia, and as a senior assistant at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Prof. Leszek Giec Upper Silesian Medical Centre in Katowice-Ochojec, where he previously also served as deputy head of the department.

He completed a two-year postgraduate psychotherapy programme at the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków.

He uses his psychotherapy knowledge in the diagnostic process, allowing him to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the difficulties reported by his patients.

Scope of activity

He gained his professional experience both in the 24-hour Psychiatric and Psychotherapy Unit and through many years of outpatient practice in the Mental Health Clinic and the Addiction Treatment Clinic.

He continuously expands his knowledge by participating in international scientific conferences, including the DGPPN Congress in Berlin, ECNP, and EPA, where he also presents the results of his own research.

He is a member of the Polish Psychiatric Association, the Polish Society of Sexology, and the German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Neurology (DGPPN).

He is the author and co-author of scientific publications in the fields of sexology and psychiatry, as well as a co-author of several books and professional textbooks.
