Justyna Holka-Pokorska

Education and professional experience

She holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree, and is a specialist in sexology, psychiatry, and psychotherapy. She is a Fellow of the European Board of Sexual Medicine (FECSM) and is one of only several dozen sexology specialists worldwide affiliated with the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM).

Since 2000, she has been associated with the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Warsaw. Since 2012, she has worked there as an assistant professor at the Third Psychiatric Clinic of the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology.

In 2007–2008, she served as the head of the Day Unit of the Third Psychiatric Clinic. In 2012, she defended her doctoral thesis, receiving distinction from the Scientific Council of the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology.

She completed an eclectic psychotherapy training programme accredited by the Scientific Board of the Psychotherapy Section of the Polish Psychiatric Association, as well as a psychoanalytic psychotherapy training programme at the Institute of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Warsaw.

Between 2000 and 2006, she underwent training psychoanalysis with a training psychoanalyst of the International Psychoanalytical Association.

She obtained her specialisation in sexology in 2013 under the supervision of Professor Zbigniew Lew-Starowicz.

Scope of activity

She is the author and co-author of numerous publications in the fields of psychiatry, sexology, and psychotherapy.

In the diagnosis and treatment of sexual dysfunctions, she applies an interdisciplinary approach that combines psychotherapeutic methods with the latest findings in neurobiology and pharmacotherapy.

Her clinical and scientific interests particularly focus on the relationships between sex hormones and psychological and sexual functioning.

Minors may attend consultations only with the consent of a parent (legal guardian) or a court-appointed guardian.
